Text Box: Ishtar Women’s Mysteries – Next ceremony

Reclaim some personal meaning from the collective madness of 'the silly season'
by bringing yourself and all your women friends
for a special women's night in celebration of the Great Goddess.
The final Ishtar Women's Mysteries ceremony for 2006 will be held
6:30 - 9:30pm  FRIDAY 15th DECEMBER
As a special end of year treat, I've booked the new and beautiful women's space of the Harem Lounge in Mount Pleasant as the venue for our final women's ceremony of the year.
On that evening we will be gathering in sacred space to weave our special collective women's magic - calling  in the blessings of the Goddess for ourselves, our families and our world.    As the year turns towards summer solstice, the time of greatest light, we'll be honouring the Goddess in her aspect as the Radiant Queen of Heaven, and making a space to enthrone her in our own hearts.  This mystery point is about stepping into the fullness of our own power and authority as women, and its theme colour is red.

So dress yourself in your splendor (wear red if you wish), and
bring along a candle (as a gift), a small plate of finger food to share, and all of your women friends!!
As you know, with these ceremonies I operate on a donation basis, and on this occasion I am particularly relying on your generosity to help cover the somewhat higher costs of this beautiful venue. I think when you see it, you will agree that it is definitely worth it!

RSVP to Ishara on 9314 5973 or by email ishara@ishtarsdaughters.com
Bright blessings of the Goddess to you all,
Ishara.

Text Box: Goddess Salon
“A self-organized discussion and ritual group designed to deepen our knowledge of Goddess archaeology and spirituality.”

The salon will initially centre on viewing the video Signs Out of Time created by Starhawk about the influential and controversial feminist archaeologist Marija Gimbutas. In subsequent months we will offer videos from the extended interviews Behind the Screen.
Marija Gimbutas
At a time when most scholars of ancient history confined themselves to recording and describing data, Marija Gimbutas dared to look for meaning. Her interpretations engage fundamental issues: Is war inevitable? Have men always dominated women? What are the true roots of Western culture?"
Signs Out of Time
Signs Out of Time weaves together interviews, archival footage, photographs, and narration to portray the scope of the life and work of Marija Gimbutas. Using animation, artifacts, interview footage of Marija herself, and both her supporters and critics, it explores her studies, excavations and publications, the depth and breadth of her scholarship, and the controversy around her theories.
Starhawk on the Goddess Salons
“We interviewed dozens of people to make Signs Out of Time. Many of them are prominent artists, thinkers, writers, and scholars in archaeology, history, and philosophy. Because of the time constraints in a one-hour documentary, we couldn’t fit them all in. Some of our very favorite writers, such as Riane Eisler and Deena Metzger, ended up not being in the documentary. And even the quotes we used were just a tiny selection of the insight and wisdom in each interview.

When we were done, we realized what a treasure trove of information we had, of historic value to the fields of archaeology, religion and women’s studies. So we have made the extended interviews available in our series, Behind the Screen.

These interviews also form the heart of our Goddess Salons, self-organized discussion and ritual groups where you can deepen you knowledge of the whole field of Goddess archaeology and spirituality.” See www.belili.org for more information
